This training course provides hands-on experience on the analysis and modeling of biological systems from several angles. First of all, systems biology and modeling will be introduced from an interaction- and network-based perspective. The audience will be familiarized with publicly available data resources and pathways databases. Next, a soft introduction to mathematical modeling of biological systems will be provided, and different mathematical modeling strategies will be looked at. Then, methods for reconstructing gene regulatory networks from gene expression data will be looked. The participants will also be developing group work towards the validation of such drug targets, with the help of dynamic modeling of the network systems.
