Professor Emmanouil Dermitzakis, University of Geneva, elected as EMBO member for his outstanding research.

EMBO is an organization of more than 1500 leading researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences. The major goals of the organization are to support talented researchers at all stages of their careers, stimulate the exchange of scientific information, and help build a European research environment where scientists can achieve their best work.

For the 50th anniversary of EMBO, 106 outstanding researchers were welcomed as new members. One of them is the SYSCOL-partner Professor Emmanouil (Manolis) Dermitzakis, University of Geneva.

Professor Dermitzakis’ research focuses on the genetic basis of regulatory variation and gene expression variation in the human genome, the processes that govern non-coding DNA evolution.

The SYSCOL consortium jointly congratulates Professor Dermitzakis for this prestigious membership.
